Following the success of the ‘Ip Man’ films, a craze in Wing Chun swept the world. In view of this, a few Wing Chun enthusiasts took just over one month to form the World Wing Chun Union. From its formation in 2009, the World Wing Chun Union has held many events which include; The ‘Ip Man Cup’ World Wing Chun Invitational Tournament held in Luocun, Foshan; achieved the Guinness World Record of ‘World Wing Chun Union Charitable Thousand People Performance’ and hosted the First Hong Kong Cup International Wing Chun Competition.

Wing Chun has already produced a number of different schools, including Ip Man, Ruan Qishan, Yao Cai, to name a few. The Union was established with the hope that we can put an end to differences among schools, better unite fellow practitioners from all around the world and provide a platform for Wing Chun’s development and communication to the public.

Wing Chun is a treasure of Chinese martial arts. Although it originated in China, it should belong to the world. While we, in this generation, are fortunate to have the opportunity to learn, we hope to be able to continue the tradition and make uniting Wing Chun our first step towards one martial arts world for everyone.

We believe that given today’s favourable conditions, Wing Chun, with two hundred years of magnificent history, is poised to experience even better development and greater success.
